Mustard chicken

Mustard chicken

This was a great combination of flavors. It was so tender and the leeks added a kick. I was impatient, and did not wait long enough for the white wine to cook down and have the sauce be thicker. I served it with Potato Dauphine which is posted below.

I give this dish 4 stars, since I think it needed a little more bite. I got this recipe from Jamie Oliver Meals in Minutes. I love this cook book and recommend it.

Potato Dauphine

I loved this dish! I made it for Christmas dinner and it was great for the occasion. It had a buttery and creamy taste and smelled amazing!

Next time, I will add less olive oil because there was a little too much in the recipe for the dish. It took me 2 hours to make, but was worth it in the end. I served it with a mustard chicken, which I posted above, they worked great together.

I give the Dauphine 4 stars. I got this recipe from the Jamie Oliver Meals in Minutes cook book. When I saw it, I had to make it!

Fried tomatoes

Fried tomatoes

These were okay. They were meant to be fried green tomatoes because they are firmer but you need to go to a farmer’s market to get them. They were to loose and a little soggy. I added some fresh oregano to add a freshness. I served with Mac and cheese with bread crumbs. I give this recipe 3 stars. It was not my favorite.

Cinnamon candied almonds

These were great for the holidays! You can gift them or just leave them out on the counter to eat through out the day. It took me 2 minutes to make and they have 4 ingredients. I give this treat 4 stars. They are great to gift in a mason jar with a big bow!

Coconut vanilla bean macaroons

Coconut vanilla bean macaroons

Coconut vanilla bean macaroons

I loved these and I don’t like sweets. They were so fancy but it took me 10 mins. in prep time and 20 in baking and they are the best macaroons I have ever had! I added some vanilla bean to the melted white chocolate as well. I also added mint leaves to this dessert. I don’t like to dip them in melted chocolate because it is to much but to drizzle it on is the perfect amount to me. It’s a great dessert to make if you are not good at baking like me. I give this dish 4 and a half stars! I can’t believe that it was 7 ingredients total.

Orzo with a cheese cream sauce and asparagus

Orzo with a cheese cream sauce and asparagus

I did not like this at all. It was too heavy and there was not enough contrast with the tastes. I think I would have liked it more with green beans and some bread crumbs. I served it cold so it would be more like pasta salad and had a roasted chicken on the side. I would give this side 2 stars. It just needed a crunch and a kick.

Brie, basil, strawberries, honey on baguette

Brie, basil, strawberries, honey on baguette

I loved this quiet subtle taste. It is a great appetizer and looks great with little effort. It’s so easy to make, 5 minutes in prep time. You can have a lot of different food after you serve but it is really meant to be with French food. I would give this appetizer 4 stars for its subtlety.
